The 2000 U.S. Census recently revealed that the name “Washington” is what you may call “The Blackest Name In America.”

Close to 90 percent of the 163,036 people found with the name Washington in the census were African-American.
The story of this name began after the Civil War when Blacks were allowed to choose their surname.
