A few days ago boxer Bernard Hopkins unleashed comments questioning the “Blackness” of his former hometown quarterback Donovan McNabb formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles.
McNabb, who now plays for the Washington Redskins, has been criticized by Hopkins before and has now decided to allow his agent to respond for him.
“It perpetuates a maliciously inaccurate stereotype that insinuates those African-Americans who have access to a wider variety of resources are somehow culturally different than their brethren,” said his agent Fletcher Smith.
What many call a stunt to promote his fight against Jean Pascal in Montreal next week, Hopkins took time before a sparring session to rip McNabb. Referencing his skin color, Hopkins said McNabb just has “a suntan.”
