Patti Labelle was honored with the lifetime achievement award at last night’s BET awards, and a slew of individuals who we lost in the past year were remembered. Clarence Clemons, Nate Dogg, M-Bone, Gil-Scott Heron, and Teena Marie’s lives were all reflected upon with musical tributes, as well as kind words from artists.

Cali Swag District were joined by Doug E. Fresh to remember M-Bone.

“We love you, bro,” they said.

Queen Latifah honored Gil-Scott with his infamous “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” poem. And Teena Marie was remembered as “one of the greatest soul singers.”
