Though Soul Train is known for ushering in generations of Black musicians, its most notable component was the infamous “Soul Train Line,” where dancers would strut down a human-bordered pathway, showcasing their best grooves.

The Soul Train Line, introduced in the 1970s, far surpassed its popularity in syndication, becoming a staple piece in Black culture. Often replicated at weddings, birthday parties and cookouts, the Soul Train Line is a motif in almost every social function.

Here are five “Soul Train Lines” for your entertainment:

1. SOUL TRAIN DANCERS (TO THE O’JAYS’ “LOVE TRAIN”)

2. FAMILY AND FRIENDS AT WEDDING RECEPTION

3. SENIOR CITIZENS AT UNIVERSOUL CIRCUS

4. HOWARD UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AT PRESIDENT OBAMA‘S INAUGURATION

5. CAST OF “THIS CHRISTMAS” (2007)
