Rodney King was arrested Tuesday in southern California on suspicion of driving under the influence. King was pulled over and arrested after committing several traffic violations, Moreno Valley officers said.

King’s 1991 traffic arrest and beating by four Los Angeles police officers became national news, and subsequently shaped America’s conversation on police brutality.

He was booked into jail for investigation of DUI, and bail was set at $2,500.

Riverside County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Courtney Donowho said no arraignment date has been set.
