The Trinidadian-based Caribbean Airlines pilot of a 737 that broke in half when it landed in Guyana this weekend has flown into the airport for 25 years, officials said.

The pilot, whose name has not been released, was among the injured when the plane skidded off a rain-soaked runway on Saturday. All of the passengers on the flight survived miraculously.

Investigators are looking at whether the plane came down too close to the end of the 7,000-foot runway, leaving too little room to stop, Guyanese newspaper The Stabroek News reported.
