President Obama is attempting to win back the love of his liberal base with his approach to his proposed debt plan and the Republican leaders whose opposition he surely faces.

Obama, whose plan calls for a tax hike on the wealthy, responded to Republican claims that he’s playing politics and creating “class warfare” with this plan.

“This is not class warfare; it’s math,” Mr. Obama said. “The money’s going to have to come from someplace. And if we’re not willing to ask those who’ve done extraordinarily well to help America close the deficit … then the logic, the math says everybody else has to do a whole lot more.”
