Glendale, Arizona homicide detectives are now overseeing the missing-persons case of 5-year-old Jahessye (Jesse) Shockley, the Arizona Republic reports.

Mother of missing 5-year-old Glendale girl gives birth

Shockley has been missing since Oct. 11 after she wandered from her home in Glendale. Since, her family and others in the media have levied charges of racism, claiming her disappearance would receive more attention if she was not a missing black girl.

Investigators have yet to give the girl’s mother, Jerice Hunter, a polygraph test, though they say they are working with the FBI to schedule one.
