I watch CNN like some people watch BET; to say that CNN hasn’t “cared” about our race until the nomination on B.H.O. seems irresponsible to some degree.

When CNN aired this, it was difficult for me find the perfect racially charged vocabulary word on it to fit my interpretation- then I realized that the piece isn’t racist.

For the first time in a long time our race can celibrate the winning side of the equation and now it’s our responsibility to foster the learning curve of those who do not understand what makes the president so likable.

CNN could have helped by:
-not spelling “swagga” like they were spelling “nigga” with the double-G’s followd by an a

- not interrupting the male anchor with M.I.A.’s chorus; the song could have waited until the piece was about over

- conditioning the white female anchor to the piece that she was about to report. Her giddy attitude and admission that she “loves doing these pieces” is the same intrigue that many white women have with the blk race- and by labeling the blk man as the facilitator that drives the cultural trends, they are intrigued by the blk male….

as flattering as that last statement could have been, this is the same intrigue that causes them to blame us for every crime that they don’t want to claim responsibility for…see: “The Black Guy Did It”

Well I must say, the video was not racist from my point of view; it was merely observing facts of cultural attitude in the president. No president before this time has been a freeman as Obama is. What I mean by free is that Obama is doing Obama, with all the cultural, ethnic and black characteristics without care or concern for the opinions of others. Look around you at corporate blacks, they lose what I call the drum in their voices and attitudes. Yes I said drum, our rhythm, lanquage, customs and attitudes, in order to survive in the corporate world. But here is a blackman, half blackman, half whiteman, whatever you want to call him who has taken the attitude that the presidency is just a job that won’t last more than 8 years and he’s not sacrificing the person he is to do it. And he did the same thing in the Senate! So we need to laugh and rejoice, because we have finally seen black is not a negative and does not need to be altered or changed in anyway to be successful.He’s also shown us that if you have a plan, keep your ducks in a row, you can do you and do any job you want to do. That goes for men and women of color everywhere. I think that lil thingy is called INTEGRITY, supplemented by a huge portion of honor.

When there’s a track record of results, we can talk “swagga”. Certainly, we can all delve deep into this and even say that this CNN white reporter was belittling Obama (in that Obama is just this PERSONALITY and isn’t intelligent enough to handle the duties of the presidency). It’s all a matter of interpretation but when it comes to whites and how they view/interpret African Americans it can be just downright embarassing.

Bling, bling was a term popularized by the not-so-hot boys. That ain’t hip-hop. This “swagger” nonsense was popularized by Jigga(boo). He stopped being hip-hop in the ’90′s. Mainstream America has embraced pre packaged rap. It know’s nothing about “hip- hop” or any other subculture. Okay, this is the thing! If you look hard enough for racism, your most definately going to find it. If thats what you want to see, then your going to see it no matter what other people say. the fact is our president (according to definition) does have swagga. You know i remember when Lil Wayne and the hot boys or whoever came out with that song Bling Bling and hell, now you got 80 year old white women saying bling. Hip Hop is our culture and thats something to be proud of, not ashamed. i love hip hop, the good and the bad. Its like “Good Times” and ” the Jeffersons” its a part of us and the fact that other cultures embrace that is saying they embrace us. And why not, i love being black and Im proud of being black. Im not saying that racism doesnt exsist but there are other things i would worry about rather than some tv news channel talking about our president and swagga. I mean hell, our president is FLY! and that fact that the WORLD is smitten with him makes me all tingly inside. Dont get angry when people take a small step to be like us or embrace our culture, i would take it as a compliment. And as far as black people not being just hip hop, thats true but its apart of us , like fried chicken and Kool-aid. Hey, it is what it is!
