LOS ANGELES-A gunman, who was apparently firing randomly at passing cars, was shot and killed by police Friday in Hollywood, Calif.

Los Angeles police received a call about shots fired around 10:30 a.m. and responded to the scene at Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street. The suspect was killed and the area has been cordoned off by police.

It was unclear how many people were injured in the shooting. At least two people were being treated at the scene and at least one person has been transported to a hospital.

Witness Oscar Herrera told KABC the suspect fired at least nine shots, hitting a man driving a Mercedes and a woman driving a Toyota Camry, who fled her car on foot. Herrera said the the suspect ran out of bullets and pulled a knife before he was shot by police.

The suspect was reportedly shouting, “Kill me” and “I want to be killed.” He has not been identified.
