Donald Trump Expected to Endorse Gingrich In "Major" AnnouncementFormer GOP Republican presidential contender, real estate mogul Donald Trump, is expected to throw his hair — and support — behind Newt Gingrich in a “major announcement” from his Trump International Hotel & Tower in Las Vegas on Thursday, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Trump revealed via Twitter on Wednesday that he would make the announcement at 12:30 p.m.

Following a rally in Reno, Nevada, Gingrich told reporters from the Las Vegas Sun that he isn’t privy to details of Trump’s announcement but that it’s sure to be entertaining:

I have no idea what the Donald is going to do. He is always interesting and I don’t know of anybody who does a better job of getting attention by announcing that he will presently announce something.”

After voicing his disgust over the way that the Republican Party handled the payroll-tax extension, Trump officially left the Republican Party, changing his voter registration to “unaffiliated” in order to “preserve his right to run for president as an independent,” said a Trump staffer.

Though it may appear that Gingrich’s characterization of Spanish being the “language of the ghetto” and President Barack Obama being the “Food Stamp President” made Trump have a change of heart, the relationship between these two is nothing new. In December of last year, after Gingrich said that children living in poverty did not have role models, Trump paired with the Bush Administration throwback to provide “apprenticeships” for 10 New York teens:

We’re going to be picking 10 young, wonderful children and we’re going to make them ‘apprenti’ — we’re going to have a little fun with it — and I think it’s going to be something that’s going to really prov[ide] results. It was Newt’s idea and I thought it was a great idea.”

Though the potential endorsement of Trump — in addition to Herman Cain‘s recent show of support — may provide Gingrich some momentum, it remains to be seen if he has the wide-spread appeal to steal the nomination from the current GOP front-runner, Mitt Romney.
