Memphis Officer Dion Anthony (pictured) was busy at work, but it was not defending the public.  Rather, Officer Anthony was allegedly having sex with an unnamed woman and his antics were broadcast over the police radio scanner, reports My Fox Memphis News.

Apparently, every police officer is given two microphones for communication, one that is attached to the shoulder and another that remains in the squad car’s console.

Investigators are still trying to determine which mic picked up on Anthony’s alleged sexual romp.   The open radio transmission of the illicit act was not only heard by more than 35 employees who work at Anthony’s Mount Moriah precinct, but it was also picked up by anyone who was in possession of a police scanner.

Fellow officer Sgt. Karen Rudolph told My Fox Memphis, “Rather than picking up the phone, we use what’s given to us with our consoles and microphones. A lot of times it’s our life lines. “Anytime you communicate via a handheld or console microphone, you want to remain professional. Our job is to make sure all officers follow procedures. In this instance, it’s possible he didn’t follow proper procedure.”

Ya think?!

Anthony joined the force in 2007 and worked the 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. shift.  The broadcast of Anthony reportedly having sex went out at approximately 8:45 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. last Monday night.

Boy, that was quick!

The Memphis police department is investigating the case involving Anthony and in the meantime has relieved him of all his duties.
