Trayvon MartinFOX News, long known for their propensity to either spin the news or ignore it, depending on their agenda, is once again making headlines for their near non-existent coverage of the Trayvon Martin case, reports Think Progress.

Trayvon’s case has sparked national outrage because he was an innocent, unarmed Black child who was mercilessly shot in cold-blood by overzealous neighborhood watch captain, George Zimmerman. At the time of his vigilante-style execution, Trayvon was armed with nothing but an Arizona Iced Tea and Skittles for his younger brother.

Zimmerman continues to walk free while apparently being protected from persecution by the Sanford Police Department, leading the family to call for FBI intervention while planning Trayvon’s funeral.

As this story gains traction, including the explosive reports that the New Black Liberation Militia will attempt a citizen’s arrest of Zimmerman, the silence of FOX News gets increasingly loud.

Think Progress reports:

Martin has merited coverage by the New York Times, the Washington Post, and USA Today. The story has been covered by all three broadcast networks and extensively on cable. But there is one outlet that has barely mentioned Trayvon Martin — Fox News.

See below for chart revealing the right-wing cable network’s negligence in sharing this horrific story with their audience.

Trayvon Martin coverage by News outlets

Though it should come as no surprise that FOX News doesn’t value justice for Black children and is taking a pro-actively racist stance by willfully suppressing Zimmerman’s crimes in the news, one would think that their viewers would be insulted by the narrow, white-washed view of the world that the network provides.

According to poll results released November of 2011, FOX News viewers are less informed than people who watch no news at all, reports the Huffington Post.

One thing is for certain, the murder of Trayvon Martin will not be forgotten and justice will prevail — whether FOX News tells the story or not.
