Stephanie Rodgers, a St. Louis Justice Center corrections officer, faces 11 felony counts of having sexual contact with an inmate.  She is accused of having a month-long affair with a prisoner in March of last year, who was being held in protective custody, reports St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Justice Center officials found out about the illicit affair that Rodgers was having with the inmate — who is just referred to as F.I. — when an investigation was being conducted for a smuggled cell phone, battery and charger.   It was discovered that Rodgers had actually smuggled in the contraband to Ladon Grissom, a prisoner who was charged in a first-degree murder case and awaiting his trial.

Rodgers had allegedly accepted $300 for sneaking in the phone to Grissom.  The jail staff busted Grissom texting on the phone late in March of last year.  Officials then gathered from Grissom’s recorded jail phone calls that Rodgers had gotten him the phone and that she had also obtained one for her alleged lover, F.I., as well.

Upon learning of Rodgers involvement with F.I. officials then gathered all of the recorded jail phone calls and listened to each conversation between F.I. and Rodgers.  The jail heads listened to phone sex, talk of marriage and even discussions surrounding the possibility that Rodgers might be pregnant by F.I.

When police questioned F.I., he folded, telling them everything they needed to know about his sexual exploits with Rodgers.  Investigators listened incredulously as F.I. revealed that they not only had sex in places where security was at a maximum level but the couple even indulged twice in his very own jail cell.

According to investigators, Rodgers stopped working at the jail in August of last year.
