ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Despite having Dwight Howard’s situation still up in the air, the Orlando Magic are getting on with their preparation for the preseason.

Former Boston forward Glen Davis and guard Von Wafer practiced for the first time Tuesday after coming over in a trade for Brandon Bass. They were joined by guard Jason Richardson, who officially re-signed with the Magic on Monday and also suited up for the first time.

Orlando opens the preseason at Miami on Sunday.

Coach Stan Van Gundy said that he didn’t use Richardson like he wanted to last season and said he thinks Davis’ addition will add toughness to the Magic’s lineup.

Van Gundy said when Davis isn’t playing alongside Howard, he is comfortable with him at center with Ryan Anderson at power forward.
