The family of George Zimmerman, 28, has requested that Attorney General Eric Holder arrest the New Black Panther Party for hate crimes, reports the Daily Caller.

The neighborhood watch captain, who killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in a vigilante-style execution that has paralyzed the nation, has been in hiding with the rest of his family since February 26, the night that he claims he was forced to kill Trayvon in self-defense. Since that time, racial tensions in the United States have reached a boiling point as Trayvon’s family — and Black America — fights for justice to be served.
As previously reported by Newsone, The New Black Panther Party is offering a $10,ooo reward for the capture of George Zimmerman. Blaming the federal government’s inability — or unwillingness — to act in this case, they are reportedly still actively seeking a citizen’s arrest of Zimmerman:
It is a very trouble time in the United States of America,” a member of the New Black Panther Party said in a televised statement. “We are in the era of so-called post-racial harmony with all people. But we black people are being murdered all over America and we get the same treatment time and time again. So, we’re saying to President Obama you gotta do your job on this one buddy.”
In response, the Neo-Nazis — a white supremacist organization based in Detroit — responded by sending armed volunteers to protect “white citizens” from “violence.”
The letter from Zimmerman’s family, does not discuss the Neo-Nazi presence, but does go in depth with their complaints about the NBPP — and AG Holder protecting them because he is also Black.
I am writing you to ask you why, when the law of the land is crystal clear, is your office not arresting the New Black Panthers for hate crimes?” the family member wrote to Holder.
The Zimmerman family is in hiding because of the threats that have been made against us, yet the DOJ has maintained an eerie silence on this matter. These threats are very public. If you haven’t been paying attention just do a Google search and you will find plenty. Since when can a group of people in the United States put a bounty on someone’s head, circulate Wanted posters publicly, and still be walking the streets?”
I would surmise that, based on your own definition of a hate crime, you have chosen not to arrest these individuals based solely on your race.”
The person, who has been identified by the Daily Caller but remains anonymous, then insults President Obama, Rev. Al Sharpton, the Congressional Black Caucus and other Black leaders, accusing them all of race-baiting. In an interesting analogy, especially in light of the fact that the only fatal act of racism and stereotyping has been committed by Zimmerman, the family member compares his situation to that of Tom Robinson in “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
Strangely enough this case has a lot of parallels to those of Harper Lee’s ‘To Kill a Mockingbird,’” the letter to Attorney General Holder read. “George Zimmerman has been treated much like Tom Robinson was, chastised for not being the right (or wrong) color and found guilty based on race factors.
“You have the opportunity to act as Atticus [Finch] and do the right thing. Your boss would refer to this as a ‘teachable moment.’”
There has been no comment from Attorney General Eric Holder; however, as previously reported on Newsone, on March 19 the Department of Justice launched an investigation into Trayvon’s murder.
The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, and the FBI opened an investigation into the facts and circumstances of the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. The department will conduct a thorough and independent review of all of the evidence and take appropriate action at the conclusion of the investigation. The department also is providing assistance to and cooperating with the state officials in their investigation into the incident. With all federal civil rights crimes, the government must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a person acted intentionally and with the specific intent to do something which the law forbids – the highest level of intent in criminal law. Negligence, recklessness, mistakes and accidents are not prosecutable under the federal criminal civil rights laws. The Community Relations Service will be in Sanford, Fla., this week to meet with civil rights leaders, community leaders, and local law enforcement to address tension in the community.”
It’s difficult to imagine the audacity of anyone in the Zimmerman family complaining about the absence of justice, but coming from people who have maligned the reputation of a deceased 17-year-old child to protect his killer and then asked for assistance with legal fees online, nothing should be surprising.
