The news of the virtual resurrection of late-rap legend Tupac “2Pac” Shakur has taken the world by storm. Although fans overwhelmingly approve of the rapper’s appearance as a lifelike hologram image during Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s headlining Coachella performance this past weekend, it was the response of the rapper’s mother that proved to be the most notable of them all.

Reps for Ms. Afeni Shakur told gossip site TMZ that she was in approval of the performance. Although she didn’t attend the Coachella event, Mama Shakur watched the entire show over the Internet. The rep further said that Dr. Dre came to Ms. Shakur to ask permission in using her son’s likeness for the performance, and the legendary producer made a hefty donation to the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation charity as a way of saying thank you. Earlier reports broke on the web that late-crooner Nate Dogg was going to appear as the hologram image. TMZ spoke with Dogg Pound rapper Daz Dillinger who said that the plans were scrapped ahead of using the 2pac hologram. Nate Dogg, who passed away last year, did receive a video tribute at the concert.
