Queen Latifah is set to perform in the Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival at the end of May, perezhilton.com reports.

Rumors have been circulating for years that the hip-hop icon is a closet lesbian. However, she has never addressed the issue directly.

Though many believe that Latifah will use her performance at the festival to tell the world that she is lesbian. Whether she does or not, the festival organizers are hyped about her attendance:
“From hip hop to R & B pop standards, Queen Latifah is the voice of our generation, and her concert here will be phenomenal,” said Long Beach Pride Co-President Pat Crosby. “For her Pride debut here in Long Beach is a tremendous testament to the popularity of our celebration and to the strength of our community.”
Of course, her sexuality is her business. But, given Obama’s support of gay marriage, Latifah’s high profile may be another boost to LGBT rights in this country.
