Regina Johnson of San Diego has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly shooting to death her daughter and husband at a San Carlos apartment, cbs8.com in San Diego reports.

Johnson, 55, reportedly called a relative in Washington state to deliver the news that her husband and child were dead. The relative in turn called local authorities who eventually found the bodies and arrested Johnson. Police say the pair could have been shot as early as Wednesday.

The victims are 56-year-old Reuben Johnson and 14-year-old Aaliyah Johnson. The husband was a 6’3″ marine, according to the report. Aaliyah was a cheerleader at West Hills High School. A memorial took place on the school’s campus today and crisis counselors were available to talk with students.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 7200 block of Navajo Road on a report of a shooting about 1:35 a.m. early Saturday., and made contact by phone with the woman inside the apartment.

The officers convinced the woman to come outside, where she was detained. The bodies of a 56-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl were discovered inside.

Lt. Rooney said that the man and girl could have been fatally shot as early as Wednesday and the suspect had remained in the apartment since. Gunshots in the area where the family of three lived were not reported to police in the past few days.

Police do not have a motive behind why the murders took place. Johnson was booked into the Las Colinas Detention Facility and will be arraigned on Wednesday.
