Rapper Webbie was cuffed on battery and robbery charges in Baton Rouge, La., early this morning, TMZ reports.

But the entertainment news site was quick to note that the rapper, via a representative, told them that the allegations behind the charges are not true.

A police report filed in Baton Rouge, La., alleges that Webbie attacked a woman at the Chase Suite Hotel after being banned from the premises. During the altercation, Webbie allegedly kicked the woman down two flights of stairs and took $340 from her purse. He was arrested on the scene at 2:30 a.m.

A representative for Webbie admits that the rapper took the cash from the woman, but it was his money to take; the woman in question stole the money from him, the rep told TMZ. And Webbie’s rep added that the rapper did not attack the woman. Details behind the altercation are unclear. What is known is that Webbie met the woman at a party last night.
He was released today on $9,000 bond and plans on fighting the accusations.
