DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia is in police custody after New York City cops arrested him on Sunday night after finding a taser on his person, TMZ reports.

The Academy Award-winning rapper was reportedly stopped by officers after they spotted him carrying an open beer out of a restaurant. When they confronted DJ Paul over the open container, he reportedly revealed that he was carrying a taser.

The officers confiscated the weapon, placed DJ, Paul under arrested for an open container and misdemeanor possession of a weapon, took him to a local station where he was booked and placed behind bars. There is no word on bond.

TMZ reports that the rapper is scheduled to see a judge this morning.
Dj Paul–real name Paul Beauregard— along with the rest of the Three 6 Mafia crew took the entertainment world by surprise when their soundtrack “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp” won “Best Original Song” at the 78th Academy Awards in 2006.
Paul Mooney famously joked that audience attendees most have thought they were at the “Source Awards” after that rap group joyously accepted their Oscar on stage.
