The safety of the taser has again been called into question recently after a California woman, Angela Jones, immediately went into cardiac arrest after been tasered by California Highway Patrol. They attempted to search Jones’ purse during a stop; when she responded, “I just don’t feel like I want you to take my purse from me,” and tried to get back into her vehicle, she was hit three times in the chest with a Taser X26. According to the Huffington Post, the weapon sends 1,200 volts through its target.
