Brandy (pictured) can now truly say, “that boy is mine!”

The R&B singer’s boyfriend of two years, music exec Ryan Press (pictured), finally put a ring on it and the couple is ecstatic about the fact that they are getting married. An insider told US Weekly with regards to the proposal, “They are thrilled and happy and Brandy feels this is so right.”

The marriage will actually be Brandy’s first, although the singer purported to be married before she gave birth to her daughter Sy’rai.

In early 2002, at the same time Brandy announced her pregnancy, she also touted the fact that she had married Robert Smith, a music producer and the father of her child in the summer of 2001. At the time of the announcement, Smith was involved with another woman, a film producer. He managed to balance both relationships at first but then had to cut his ties with the other woman after Brandy publicly spoke about their nuptials.

When Brandy gave birth to Sy’rai in 2002 and allowed it to be filmed for an MTV reality TV special entitled “Diary Presents Brandy: Special Delivery,” the couple agreed to part a year later.

Smith then went on a popular New York City radio program to reveal the fact that he and Brandy were never legally married and that the nuptials story was conjured up so that she could continue to preserve her goody two-shoes image.

Brandy then released a public statement that claimed she was hurt and shocked by Smith’s revelations. The 33-year-old claimed at the time that, instead of a legal marriage, they agreed to a spiritual/commitment ceremony. Smith then retaliated, stating that he just wanted to get the truth out to the public about their relationship and that he hoped they could move on as friends and parents to their daughter.

After Smith and Brandy went their separate ways, he and the film producer resumed their relationship and even went on to have a child together.

The vocalist and former TV star of “Moesha” forged on and, in July 2004, she got engaged to NBA guard Quentin Richardson. Unfortunately, Brandy reportedly called it quits in October 2005.  She even had a tattoo of Richardson’s face on her back, which she had transformed into a cat.

Hopefully, this go-round, the engagement will stick. We wish you well, Brandy!
