Authorities claim Forbes left her Avenue l home Friday morning, telling relatives she was going to school; she never returned.

Forbes’ body was found lying face down on Gerritsen Beach Sunday morning at 7:15 a.m.

She was situated next to an extinguished bonfire and beer at the time. The fire isn’t suspected in her death because no smoke was found in her lungs. However, her legs, arms, and hands were burned.

Forbes’ sister is desperate for answers. “I want someone to please speak up,” said Shanah Forbes. “She didn’t deserve this.”

This was the second time Forbes, who is the niece of an NYPD sergeant, had run away from home. It is not known what motivated her to do so in both instances. Police have yet to determine an exact cause of death, pending further investigation.

But those close to Forbes paint an embattled picture of their friend, “Almost every day in science class, they [classmates] would ask her the same questions, like why she would wear the same weave over and over again,” according to friend Tanasha Searls. Another friend noted that Forbes had been going through relationship troubles with her boyfriend, who is not a suspect at this time.
