“Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years,” the legendary emcee said about the acquisition.

Roc Nation entered the world of sports management by teaming up with the Creative Artists Agency, the same agency that previously represented Oprah Winfrey. The union is expected to help athletes in crafting their images on a worldwide scale and improving their brand.

“At this point in my career, I am ready to take a more active role in my endeavors both on and off the field,” Cano said. “I am confident that the pairing of Roc Nation Sports & CAA Sports will be essential in helping me accomplish my short- & long-term goals.”

According to USA Today, Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz could be the next addition to Roc Nation. Cruz was seen at a few Jay-Z concerts last year. And when asked in October if he was working on a business deal with Mr. Carter, Cruz had this to say:

“I’d rather keep that under wraps. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag just yet. “We’ll see in the upcoming weeks what happens.”

Cano is Jay-Z’s first signee to his management company.
