Nine-year-old Justice Williams (pictured center) was found hanging in the bathroom of her Bronx, N. Y., home on Sunday night.

Police investigators suspect that the child committed suicide after she repeatedly told relatives she wanted to die and had problems adjusting to the birth of her half-brother, reports the New York Daily News.

Williams’ mother, Tamiqua Torres, 31 (pictured left), made the grizzly discovery when she went to check on why her daughter was taking so long in the shower. Upon entering the bathroom, Torres found her little girl with a white cloth strung around her neck and dangling from the metal shower door frame. Williams was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead 12 minutes after she arrived.

The fourth grader had actually been undergoing therapy after she revealed her death wish to her mother and stepfather as soon as she found out about the pregnancy. Williams then reportedly could not cope with the birth of her half-sibling. Torres had the baby eight months ago with her husband.

According to police, Williams fared well in school and was not the victim of bullying.

The grieving mom had written in her personal blog that her daughter was so distraught about having a sibling. “We were as happy as happy could be until one day my then 8-year-old woke up and decided that she wasn’t exactly thrilled about being a Big Sister,” Torres  wrote according to the Daily News.

If Williams’ death is categorized as a suicide, she will be the second child to have taken her own life in the borough in less than a year.   Last May, Wilnery Polanco-Uben, 11, committed suicide after she played hooky from school and texted her friends of her impending death at her own hands. The child hung herself from a bedroom door.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that fewer than one in 100,000 children ages 10 to 14 years old commit suicide each year.
