George Zimmerman

UPDATE 5:45 A.M. EST:  Trayvon Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, issue a statement through their family attorney, Benjamin Crump, responding to Gladys Zimmerman’s letter:

One year ago today, the State of Florida decided that there was evidence to charge George Zimmerman for second-degree murder for profiling, pursuing, and killing our unarmed teenage son. The facts of this case are simple and straightforward. We are confident that a jury following the overwhelming evidence against George Zimmerman will hold him accountable for killing our son, Trayvon Martin.

For the Zimmerman family to allege that the justice system doesn’t work, simply because they are unhappy their son was arrested in the first place, is disingenuous and disrespectful to the very system that is currently affording him every available opportunity to defend himself.  The arrest of an admitted killer is not a violation of due process, it is due process.  Most will agree that no one has been given greater consideration by the justice system for killing an unarmed child, than George Zimmerman.

We continue to pray that our son’s death will serve as a catalyst in preventing other senseless acts of gun violence.

On the 1-year “anniversary” of  George Zimmerman’s arrest, his mother, Gladys Zimmerman, released a letter “from the desk” of Robert Zimmerman Jr. continuing to defend his slaying of an unarmed teenager, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

In a disrespectful, misguided game of tit-for-tat that exemplifies the caliber of the family we’re dealing with, Robert Zimmerman made the following announcement on his Twitter page:

This cold and calculating move follows the renewal of mainstream interest in the case following the observance of Trayvon’s death on February 26, 2013 — exactly one year after he was gunned down by Zimmerman, the racist, over-zealous neighborhood cowboy who profiled and stalked him around a gated community in Sanford, Florida before killing him after an alleged altercation.

The letter reads as follows:

A Letter of Gratitude from Gladys Zimmerman by rzimmermanjr

As previously reported by NewsOne,  Robert Jr. recently compared Trayvon to De’Marquise Elkins, 17, who is accused of fatally shooting 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in the face after attempting to rob his mother, Sherry West:

Teen [De’Marquise Elkins] to [Sherry] West: “Do you want me to shoot your baby?” #TrayvonMartin to #GeorgeZimmerman : You’re gonna die tonight Motherf**ker”

Lib media shld ask if what these2 black teens did 2 a woman&baby is the reason ppl think blacks mightB risky

POTUS spoke of his Mom acting like a ‘typical’ white woman when encountering blacks. The fate of Sherry West might B why.

The miscarriage of justice here is that George Zimmerman was allowed to walk free for weeks after killing an unarmed teenager, perjure himself in court, then allowed to walk free again. Hopefully, when the trial begins on June 10, justice will truly be on the cusp of being served for the true victims — Trayvon Martin and his family.
