Dzhokhar Tsarnaev chargedLaying in his heavily guarded hospital bed at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, severely injured after suffering a possibly self-inflicted gunshot wound to the neck and still largely unable to talk, Boston Marathon bombing suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was officially charged by federal prosecutors with using a weapon of mass destruction and malicious destruction of property. Due to his extreme injuries and the urgency of the situation, a federal judge went to his hospital bed to preside over the proceedings.

As previously reported by NewsOne, several conservative politicians, including Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.),  floated around the idea that Tsarnaev be tried as an enemy combatant, but White House Press Secretary Jay Carney rejected that idea in the press room:

“We will prosecute this terrorist through our civilian system of justice,’’ Carney said.

Monday, April 22, after a delay for a public safety exemption, and backlash from organizations as the ACLU, Tsarnaev was read his Miranda Rights.

Tsarnaev answered the judge’s questions by nodding his head, only forcing out “no” when asked could he afford an attorney. He could possibly face the death penalty.
