UPDATE: Thursday, July 2, 2015 9:55 AM EST:

An unnamed official told the Associated Press that investigators found no evidence of a shooting, or weapons.

The facility is still on lockdown with orders to shelter in place.

The U.S. Navy Yard in Washington D.C., once the scene of a gruesome 2013 mass shooting, is on lockdown again amid reports of a possible shooting at the facility, Reuters reports.

Police responded to a report of an active shooter Thursday morning. The facility was quickly placed on lockdown. Photos, tweets and videos from those on the scene show Navy Yard employees evacuating the grounds — a scene eerily similar to the 2013 shooting that resulted in the death of 12 people by a contractor at the military installation.

No further information regarding the possible shooting and possible gunman were released to the public.

“No incident can be confirmed as of yet,” the Navy said.

An investigation continues.

This is a developing story…
