What happens when outsiders to the HBCU community try to impact Black college culture? The answer may not be as straightforward as you think.
To hear the O’Jays tell it, gospel singing groups are the worst when it comes to competing with others in the industry. On “NewsOne Now” with Roland Martin, Eddie Levert, Sr. joked, gospel groups are “the most competitive people because they don’t want anyone to have more Jesus than them.”
Levert also shared a story about a match-up between his son, the late performer Gerald Levert, and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. Hear it in the clip below.
