poole-stabbing

Rachel Poole, 31, was talking to her husband Justin Poole, a U.S. soldier stationed overseas, via FaceTime chat when a home intruder stabbed her multiple times, reports CBS Atlanta.com.

Poole, who is 9 months pregnant, recognized her attacker, Corey Bernard Moss, a 19-year-old soldier based at Fort Bliss, and screamed his name as he stabbed her repeatedly before fleeing the scene.

According to a KFox14 report, Moss broke into the home to confront her about money he owed her for vehicle repairs.

The unborn child is reportedly fine, while Poole remains listed in critical condition.

Fort Bliss spokesman Maj. Stephen Holt released the following statement:

“The incident is under investigation and, as such, we cannot provide any details. We are also unable to speculate as to what may have taken place. The investigation into this matter is being conducted by the El Paso Police Department and Fort Bliss is cooperating fully. We pride ourselves on the professionalism of the Soldiers within our ranks. Behavior such as these alleged actions are not representative of the men and women who serve at Fort Bliss. Our immediate concern is for the safety and welfare of the victim. We are monitoring her condition and our thoughts and prayers are with her for a full and quick recovery.”

Moss has been charged with criminal attempted capital murder. His bond is set at $60,000.
