Anytime you preface a statement with “this isn’t racist, but…” chances are it’s just that. Sarah Palin (pictured), who at this point serves no other purpose than to operate as the unsightly cold sore of political discourse, compared the federal debt to slavery while speaking at the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition’s fall fundraiser on Saturday night.

Why?

Stupid is as stupid does.

Palin argued:

Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children and borrowing from China. When that money comes due – and this isn’t racist, so try it anyway, but it’ll be like slavery when that note is due. We are going to beholden to the foreign master.”

But as Cynthia Tucker explained on Politics Nation with Al Sharpton:

Debt does not allow a slave[master] to legally rape his property. Debt does not allow a slave master to take away your children. On top of which, the federal debt is falling.

But you know, Cynthia, facts don’t matter in Sarah Palin’s world. Just look at her recent “Today Show” interview, where she whined about the Affordable Health Care Act, but when pressed for an alternative plan, proceeded to mumble a bunch of words that proved she hadn’t given any real thought to it.

Imagine that.

When Omarosa Manigault explained to Bethenny Frankel that, because of privilege, White women get to “walk around and be mediocre” and “still get rewarded with things,” she was talking about White women like ex-Alaska governor and perpetual troll Sarah Palin who is adept at netting big headlines and getting people like me to write about all of the asininity that seeps from her mouth (always without hesitation).

Either way, that doesn’t alter the reality that she is a nitwit of the highest order.

A political presence who often proves to lack even a basic grasp of political policy and the way things work. For all of the GOP’s caricature of minorities and the poor — i.e. shiftless, ignorant and unprincipled — they continue to allow a dense woman who couldn’t even be bothered to finish her first term as governor to serve as a voice for the party.

Why?

In that same “Politics Nation” segment, Joan Walsh rightly asserts that Sarah Palin’s purpose is to do nothing more than preach for “the white grievance industry.” Likewise, Walsh is right when she says that there’s no sense in pretending that Sarah Palin is some outlier in the GOP. She is very much a part of the party’s mainstream.

Indeed, Sarah Palin is not the first Republican to make such a foolish slave-based analogy.

There have been plenty of conservatives to compare Obamacare to slavery — including an actual Black man who needs both a lifeguard and history professor to save him from drowning in his own ignorance. Even if Black, Dr. Ben Carson was appeasing white grievance for profit much like Sarah Palin. The same goes for Republicans who have argued that slavery was good for Black people as recent as 2012.  Ditto for Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky), who compared food stamps and health care to slavery only a few months ago.

They can all cry about how “not racist” they are for comparing political policy to slavery, but if you have diminished the horrific act of slavery and the racism that fueled it in this country, it very much does speak to your attitudes about race.

Listen to Roland Martin talk with a NewsOne Now caller, who says African Americans are still enslaved, about Sarah Palin‘s recent comments here:

A person with any morsel of respect for the plight of Black people in this country and the damaging effects the Atlantic slave trade had on Blacks across the Diaspora wouldn’t compare anything to slavery but slavery. Period.

Sarah Palin’s comparison is the most infuriating because unlike some of her peers who have backpedaled upon public roasting for “inappropriate” commentary, she continues to be rewarded. In the past, Palin has referred to President Obama as “lackadaisical” and complained about his “shuck and jive.” None of that stopped her. If anything, she keeps getting rewarded.

Sarah Palin, you are a racist. You’re also an idiot, very much pathetic, and all around a waste of everyone’s time. The media should look in to a prescription of Valtrex in order to cure itself of you flaring up every couple of months. But it won’t, because again, you’re a cheerleader for White grievance. You will continue to be given airtime to spout your nonsense. Like it or not, moose hunter, that all is racist.
