Grammy-nominated rapper Soulja Boy (pictured) was arrested Wednesday morning in San Fernando Valley, Calif., for drug and gun possession, according to TMZ.

The 23-year-old performer, whose actual name is DeAndre Cortez Way , was a passenger in a car that was pulled over by authorities for running a stop sign. When officers peered into the vehicle, they spotted what looked to be a gun; it turned out to be a loaded revolver.

Soulja was arrested on the spot, hauled off to jail and booked on a felony charge.

The recent arrest is not a first for the “Crank That” artist.  Back in 2009, he was cuffed and charged with obstruction when he ran from police upon being ordered to stop. He had been filming a video in an abandoned building in Atlanta.

Two years after his first arrest, Soulja was traveling along a Carroll County, Ga., highway with four other men when police stopped the vehicle for equipment violation. Upon searching the SUV, officers stumbled upon more than five ounces of marijuana, a large sum of cash and handguns.  Soulja was taken in and slapped with two felony marijuana charges and gun possession.

Soulja’s bail has been set at $35,000 for this latest offense.
