Former NFL player Terrell Owens’ (pictured left) estranged bride, Rachel Snider (pictured), was reportedly rushed to a Texas hospital over the weekend, after allegedly attempting to end her life over her recent marital break up, according to TMZ.
The couple tied the knot in a quickie secret ceremony at a Norwalk, Calif., courthouse on January 23. After a two-week stint, though, the pair separated because Snider alleged that Owens had married her because of her good credit rating. The 33-year-old former postal worker and Mom of one stated that Owens intended on purchasing a $2 million home in Sherman Oaks, Calif., but his horrific credit profile stood in the way of securing the loan.
Consequently, Snider reportedly moved out of the home she and Owens shared together and said that she would file for divorce, “I really valued his love and friendship for five years. Out of the love in my heart, I tried to help him. We had a secret relationship for five years, and I married him for love. I felt in love and now I feel betrayed and heartbroken.”
According to TMZ, Snider tweeted on Tuesday how she was “just a little broken down right now” and “suffering from a broken heart.” The Beaumont, Texas, native then went on to tweet a day later, “Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls. The most massive characters are seared with scars.”
Owens, a former wide receiver who played for 15 seasons with the NFL and earned — then blew through — a reported $80 million, has had a hard-knock life over the past few years. After not being picked up by an NFL team, Owens tried his hand at acting, weather forecasting, modeling and even had a couple of reality shows. Financially, though, Owens finances went to hell in a hand basket, with bad investment ventures, child support woes, massive tax debts, and poor management.
And while Owens has denied Snider’s allegations, the extent of Snider’s injuries have not been released.
