Beyoncé’s spitfire little sis, songstress Solange Knowles’s (pictured left), and longtime beau 51-year-old video director Alan Ferguson (pictured) are reportedly getting married, according to Hollywood Life.
Solange, who has also garnered a rep for being fashion forward, met Ferguson five years ago, and she admits she approached him.
As far as the wide gap in their ages, Solange does not seem to place any importance on the fact that Ferguson is 23 years older, telling Harper’s Bazaar, “Everyone talks about how, in your 30s, all of these growing pains transition into wisdom and you feel more self-assured and confident, but I think I had a bit of a jump-start on that at 27. For the first time in my life, I’m basing every decision around the idea of whether I want to do it or if I think it will be inspiring. And that’s paid off for me.”
Solange was married once before to Daniel Smith, her high school sweetheart. She was only 17 at the time of the marriage and Daniel was 19. The couple’s short-lived three-year marriage produced a son, Daniel Julez J. Smith (pictured). Both Solange and Daniel continue to co-parent their son and reportedly have an amicable relationship.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Solange admitted that her dating life was once far from being enviable, “Luckily, I dated all of the losers ages ago,” she said. “My love life has been stable for a while. It’s a f–ked-up thing—without conflict, it’s a lot harder to write interesting songs.”
The petite 28-year-old recently made headlines around the globe for walloping brother-in-law, Jay Z, in an elevator while big sis Beyoncé stood on the sidelines. Video footage of the violent altercation was released and went viral. As far as why the violence erupted and what triggers were involved to cause Solange to react so violently toward Jay Z, those details are still unknown.
We wish you well, Solange!
