NewsOne staffers are reporting a heavy police presence at Peabody Opera House on Market St. in St. Louis. Blues fans and protesters are mixed within the crowd.

They also report that the National Guard is at City Hall and the St. Louis city Justice Center.

NewsOne staffers in the St. Louis area are checking out reports that protesters are going to local major department stores with plans to prevent Black Friday shopping.

Our reporters have witnessed dozens of protesters at Walmarts in Bridgeton and Maplewood, Mo., as well as a Target in Brentwood. In each case, the protesters encountered a heavy law enforcement presence, were prevented from blocking entrances and decided to move on to another major store.

In the image above, National Guard personnel are seen guarding a Walmart on Hanley Road in Maplewood, and a cashier told NewsOne that protesters had been in and out of the store this evening.

This image shows the scene in front of a Walmart on St. Charles Rock Road in Bridgeton, where NewsOne witnessed law enforcement rushing in to block protesters from standing in front of the store’s entrance.

 

Meanwhile, on Twitter Deray McKesson sent out images and Vine videos of protests inside and outside of a Walmart in nearby Manchester, Mo.
