Cedric The EntertainerSherri Shepherd and Ben Vereen sat down with “NewsOne Now” host Roland Martin to dish on Chris Rock’s semi-autobiographical comedy, “Top Five.”

Cedric The Entertainer broke down the dilemma in which moviegoers will find Rock’s characters. He explained to Martin that as a stand-up comedian there are times when you want to be taken seriously or try to do something different and you can be “fearful” about doing the thing that first brought your fame.

“You see it and kind of hear about it with so many great actors, comedians,” Cedric explained. “They all go through that.”

From TopFiveMovie.com:

TOP FIVE digs under the surface of show business, politics, rap, and the exigencies of being Black and famous today—holding it all up to the light in the way only Chris Rock can. Mingling echoes of Woody Allen and Dick Gregory with the energy of Kanye West and Jay Z, TOP FIVE is an original and radically new kind of American movie.

Written, directed, and starring Chris Rock, TOP FIVE tells the story of New York City comedian-turned-film star Andre Allen, whose unexpected encounter with a journalist (Rosario Dawson) forces him to confront the comedy career—and the past—that he’s left behind. Starring Chris Rock, Rosario Dawson, Gabrielle Union, Cedric The Entertainer, JB Smoove, Tracy Morgan, Kevin Hart, Anders Holm, Jay Pharaoh, Michael Che, Sherri Shepherd, Leslie Jones. The film is produced by Scott Rudin and Eli Bush. The Co-Producers are Shawn “Jay Z” Carter and Kanye West; the Executive Music Producer is Questlove.

Watch Martin, Cedric the Entertainer, Sherri Shepherd and Ben Vereen mix it up in the video clip above and be sure to check out “Top Five, written, produced and starring Chris Rock. “Top Five” is now in theaters everywhere.

Don’t miss Martin and Shepherd dropping it like it’s hot. Hopefully they will be able to pick it up once they put it down.
