The NYPD has identified the human remains found in Brooklyn two years ago asĀ Erica McDaniel’s (pictured), the New York Daily News reports.

Officers found McDaniel’s skeletal remains in a suitcase in a Bedford Stuyvesant building in March 2013. The building was burned out and had been sold shortly before the discovery.
McDaniel was identified through DNA testing and was originally from Kansas; however, she’d been living on Bedford Avenue near Greene Avenue in later years.
Her last contact with the NYPD was via a 2011 arrest for an unspecified reason. Anyone with information on McDaniel’s death is advised to call the department’s Crime Stoppers unit at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477)
