Jamie Foxx’s brave act of kindness this month taught us the award-winning actor possesses heroic abilities – even off-camera.

Foxx helped save the life of a man whose car crashed and burned near his home on Monday evening. After pulling 32-year-old Brett Kyle out of the vehicle, Foxx waited for paramedics on the scene. The next day, he shared a touching moment with Kyle’s father, who thanked him for saving his son’s life.

There are plenty of heroes who walk among us–even if technically they’re on the red carpet. Check out some stories about Hollywood’s unlikely heroes below.

T.I. Saves Two Suicidal Men & Woman In Car Crash

T.I. at Triumph Awards 2015

Rapper and actor extraordinaire Clifford “T.I.” Harris has saved lives on a few occasions. His superman moment came in Oct. 2010, when he talked a man out of committing suicide. The rapper was in Atlanta heading to a video shoot when he heard news of a man standing on the ledge of a 22-story building, which happened to be the same building that housed popular urban radio station, V-103. T.I. headed to the station and recorded a video for the man, saying, “Nothing is that bad. Nothing in life is worth taking your life. I’m here to help you. Please come down to talk to me.” Police showed the man identified as Joshua Starks the video, which helped him come down and meet with the rapper in person.

But T.I.’s first brush with preventing suicide came four years before in 2006, when he crossed paths with Creed frontman Scott Stapp. The singer said he was on a drug binge at Miami’s Delano Hotel when he jumped over his balcony and fell 40 feet, fracturing his skull and breaking his hip. The rapper, who was also staying at the hotel, came to Stapp’s rescue. The story didn’t come to light until 2012, when the rocker mentioned it in interviews promoting his memoir, Sinners Creed.

There’s also the moment in which T.I. helped a car crash victim in 2014 while grabbing Popeye’s. The artist witnessed a cab slam into an SUV and headed over to help the woman in the car. He stayed with her until the paramedics came on the scene. As the story goes, the victim was more emotional over meeting T.I. than the ordeal itself. [MTV, TMZ, Rolling Stone]

Rihanna Finds Creative Way For Bone Marrow Patients To Obtain Donors

Rihanna And The Clara Lionel Foundation Host 2nd Annual Diamond Ball - Arrivals

Rihanna has used the power of social media for good by issuing PSAs for those in need of bone marrow transplants. Her efforts began in 2008, when she came to the aid of a New York woman with leukemia. After asking her fans to help the mother of two, Rihanna was able to find a match.

The following year, RiRi also found a match for five-year-old fan Jasmina Anema, who suffered from a rare aggressive form of leukemia. With the help of DKMS and Twitter, over 5,000 donors came to Anema’s aid. The Bajan star also made hospital visits to see the little girl during her chemotherapy treatments. Sadly, Anema passed away in 2010. [PEOPLE]

Jill Scott Helps Depressed Fan

Sometimes, all we need is a good hug and a few words of encouragement to brighten our day. Singer and actress Jill Scott was able to do this for one fan during a simple trip to Walgreens. Her kind exchange with Dani Ruelas Jones-Nash happened in December 2015, when the fan was having what she called “one of the worst days of her life.”

After hearing a warm “Hello,” she recognized the talented singer and asked to take a photo. Instead, Scott welcomed a joint video and promised her, “All is well, I promise. Everything is for the good, whether we know it or not.” [Essence]

J. Cole’s Music Stops Man From Taking His Life

J. Cole's Unforgettable New Year's Performance At The LIGHT Vegas

The power of music — especially hip-hop — transcends. One man was proud to credit rapper J. Cole’s music for saving his life. The unidentified man took to Tumblr to share his story. Revealing he was homeless and stealing food from grocery stores, the man said he was eventually able to look for jobs at Starbucks thanks to their free wi-fi and came across the rapper’s critically acclaimed album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. Prior to listening to the fan-favorite track, “Love Yourz,” he contemplated suicide by taking a bunch of sleeping pills. In the post, he explained that the song gave him “a bit of strength to try and continue.”

Jay Z & Beyonce Bail Out Ferguson and Baltimore Protesters

2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Hosted By Graydon Carter - Inside

One of music’s biggest power couples were a secret ally of sorts during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, when they anonymously bailed out protesters in Ferguson and Baltimore. The deed was revealed in May 2015 when filmmaker, author, and close friend of the couple, dream hampton, tweeted about Jay Z and Beyonce’s efforts.

After contacting the rapper about the needs of BLM and the harsh treatment protesters faced in Ferguson after the death of Michael Brown, Jay reportedly wired “tens of thousands” in minutes. The author continued to list some of the couple’s other secret, but special, contributions.

One of Jay’s most public gifts came last year, when he hand-delivered “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirts (referencing the death of Eric Garner) to LeBron James and other players during a game between the Cavaliers and Brooklyn Nets. But it wasn’t just any game, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, better known as Prince William and Kate Middleton, were present.

Many have wondered why the music icons keep a low profile about their good deeds, but hey, not all superheroes want to rock capes. [Complex]
