Attorneys for the NAACP filed a federal class action lawsuit on behalf of the residents and businesses affected by the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. The suit filed on Thursday in U.S. District Court says the individuals tasked to evaluate the water quality failed to test and treat the water, leading to contamination. Ten people are named in the suit, including Gov. Rick Snyder, who has been heavily criticized for lack of oversight in regards to the tainted water. “Our organization stands with the citizens of Flint to demand a clear timeline, deadline and price tag for fixing this crisis as well as effective remedies for the harms that have already occurred and complete compensation for each and every victim of this unimaginable tragedy,” Cornell Brooks, the National President and CEO of the NAACP, said in the complaint. Oklahoma Legislatures Pass Bill Criminalizing Abortion

Oklahoma State Legislatures passed a controversial bill Thursday that seeks to make performing an abortion a felony. Under the legislation, doctors who perform abortions in the Sooner State could face felony charges and the loss of their medical license. Gov. Fallin, who has five days to either sign or veto the bill before it goes into effect, says she is indecisive on what measure she will take. Certain state physicians and pro-choice activists have been outspoken against the bill, saying it strips women and participating physicians of their civil liberties. T.I. and TIDAL Team Up For Education Initiative

The “Money Talks” rapper is partnering with TIDAL to raise money for education. Participants are urged to sign up on CrowdRise and post their projects on social media using the hashtag #TIDALXMONEYTALK. Currently there are over 35 different educational initiatives on the site. The top five fundraisers will enter a chance to win a match donation from T.I. and TIDAL. As the father of seven children, T.I. constantly faces the importance of education awareness. In an interview with The Huffington Post, T.I. said, “We want to inspire kids to take themselves outside of their form of institutions and we also want to promote entrepreneurship within the community.” The initiative ends on June 15, and on June 22, a winner will be announced.
