Instead of being angry at or ashamed of people like Steppin’ Fetchit, Mantan Mooreland, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson and Butterfly McQueen for being “coons” or whatever, black folks need to realize that they were doing THE BEST that they could do with the hand they had to play and if it wasn’t for black folks like them, wouldn’t be no Denzel Washington, Will Smith or Jamie Foxx. Back in the day, just getting a black face on THE DAMN SCREEN was a victory for black folks. Decades later, it’s STILL a struggle to get quality black entertainment that isn’t marginalized or stereotyped in some way, but that doesn’t mean to give up. That just means that the fight is ongoing and NEVER GIVE UP, because you can bet your ass that the powers that be won’t stop trying to put that foot on our necks.

Future generations will look back at this age and say, “DAMN, they must’ve had it rough, being the first generation of black people to experience a black President and First Lady!”. Let the record stand that it was tough, but we DIDN’T GIVE UP. WE KEPT ON FIGHTING!!!
