Things are only getting worse for Brooklyn rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine. The rapper was arrested by the NYPD at JFK Airport in New York City after returning from a European tour on July 11. The NYPD enforced a Houston, Texas warrant related to him allegedly choking a 16-year-old at a mall back in January. Reportedly, 6ix9ine, 22, went ballistic because the teenager was recording him. When the teen refused to delete the video, he allegedly began choking him. 6ix9ine was denied bail during a Manhattan court hearing Thursday, July 12, and will be forced to sit in jail until Texas officials pick him up.

Now, the rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, has been transferred to Rikers Island.

6ix9ine is in the Contagious Disease Unit at Rikers, TMZ reported. “The rapper was sent to the 140-cell portion of the NY jail, which is mainly used to house inmates battling illness. It’s also used to house high-profile or celebrity inmates who, for their own safety, can’t be in general population — and Tekashi falls under that category,” according to the news outlet.

In addition, he is being held in isolation and will have no contact with other inmates, even when he is outside for an hour a day.

The rapper will remain incarcerated until his hearing on July 20.
