Yesterday it was announced that the sentencing of Michael Flynn will be delayed because he might cooperate with federal investigators in Mueller’s ongoing investigation into Russian election interference. The judge made it clear he was disgusted with Flynn and questioned why he wasn’t charged with treason. However, what many people do not know is that the judge is Emmet Sullivan, a two-time graduate of Howard University.

Judge Sullivan, 71, graduated from Howard University with a bachelor’s degree in 1968 and a law degree in 1971. After maintaining a private practice for over 10 years, he clerked for Judge James Washington of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

Sullivan also has a long history with Republican and Democrat presidents. In 1984, former President Ronald Reagan nominated him to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. By 1992, President George H.W. Bush nominated him to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and in 1994 President Bill Clinton nominated Sullivan to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Therefore, we can expect the full strength of the law from Sullivan.

Judging from Sullivan’s comments to Flynn, he may receive a hard sentence. According to Fox News, Sullivan said, “I’m not hiding my disgust, my disdain for this criminal offense.” He also added, “Arguably, you sold your country out.”

Of course, Trump is supporting Flynn. He tweeted, “Good luck today in court to General Michael Flynn. Will be interesting to see what he has to say, despite tremendous pressure being put on him, about Russian Collusion in our great and, obviously, highly successful political campaign. There was no Collusion!”

We will see how much Flynn decides to cooperate—or if he will do nothing and depend on Trump to pardon him.
