FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Divers with a South Florida county sheriff’s office have pulled up an algae-covered minivan from a canal along Alligator Alley with human bones inside.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office divers were on a training mission when they found the van in 18 feet of water near a rest area. The remains are believed to belong to at least one person.

Valbrun Chevalier told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that Tampa police investigators informed his family the van was registered to his sister, who has been missing for nearly 11 years.
Twenty-seven-year-old Nelta Jacques disappeared in 1999 as she drove from Fort Lauderdale with her two daughters, ages 7 and 5, to their Tampa home. The girls are also missing.
The sheriff’s office would not confirm whether the car belongs to Jacques.
