The number of people filing for unemployment insurance fell last week, but weak industrial output and a drop in wholesale prices point to a slowing in the economic recovery.
Initial claims for jobless benefits fell a seasonally adjusted 29,000 to 429,000 in the week ended July 10, the Labor Department said Thursday. The four-week moving average, which smooths out weekly gyrations, fell 11,750 to 455,250.
