As my paternal side of the family hails from Kingston, I was partial…no I was actually rooting for Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps to win the crown of Miss Universe 2010. Aaah…I was seeing it in my mind. The white rum flowing, the smell of congratulatory ganja permeating the air, and the curry goat making my mouth water.

But it all came crashing down in a hard bitter dose of reality when Bret Michaels and the other chick announced that Miss Mexico, Jimena Navarrete had won.

Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps would have to settle for an admirable showing as first runner up. Of course, if for any reason the winner can’t do her job and fulfill her duties, Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps would then get the title. But that’s so anti-climatic.
