An appeals court has overturned the murder conviction of an Ohio woman, China Arnold, accused of cooking her baby daughter in a microwave oven.

China Arnold was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole back when a jury found her guilty of aggravated murder for the August 2005 death of 28-day-old Paris Talley.

The Second District Court of Appeals in Dayton overturned the conviction this morning after the prosecution’s star witness admitted she lied when she testified that Arnold had confessed to putting her baby in the microwave.

The witness claims the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office threatened her with jail time unless she gave that false testimony.

The appeals court has remanded the case back to trial court for further proceedings.
