New York — They’re unlikely partners for a good cause.
Frequent adversaries Rev. Al Sharpton and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly teamed up Friday to announce a new gun buyback program that aims to take deadly weapons off the city streets.
The duo announced that a Harlem church would host a NYPD Gun Stop event next month in which people can turn in a handgun for a reward – no questions asked.
“We need to get beyond our differences in politics to preserve our lives,” said Sharpton as he stood next to Kelly at One Police Plaza.
