WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says it may be his “biggest disappointment” — the failure to get Congress to pass the DREAM Act. It would offer a path to legal status for young illegal immigrants.

Obama says these children grow up like other kids in America, only to find themselves under a “shadow of fear” through no fault of their own. He says anyone who knows any of these young immigrants would want to help them.

He told reporters Wednesday that Republicans may be reluctant to do so because of “tough” politics on the issue.

Obama says he remains determined to see immigration reforms, and that his administration has already done more than any other in recent years to secure the country’s borders.
