Both candid and humorous, Sharpton gets personal, discussing everything from his weight issues to his bachelor existence and exactly how he got that hair — blame James Brown.

From the streets of Brooklyn to the White House, Rev. Sharpton has continued to be a voice for people silenced in this country. As host of PoliticsNation, he fearlessly shatters boundaries in journalism — angering some people along the way — by merging his activism into a new brand of media that is groundbreaking for cable television.

While critics have questioned his authenticity and dedication to the common man, Rev. Sharpton ignores the chatter and continues to put his money where his mouth is. From March 4-9, 2012, Sharpton’s  National Action Network will recreate the historic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. Beginning at the Edmund Pettus Bridge, it will culminate in front of the Alabama State Capitol. The march was organized in response to the archaic voter suppression laws that control the political climate in one of the most historically racist states in the union. Sharpton once famously said, “We have defeated Jim Crow, but now we have to deal with his son, James Crow Jr., Esq.”

In addition to his consistency on the political front, Rev. Sharpton has long proven to be in touch with the pulse of the people as proven by his close relationship with the Hip-Hop and entertainment communities, never failing to also take artists to task when their lyrics are deemed detrimental to our youth.

Be on the look-out for Vanity Fairs insightful interview with the Reverend on newsstands in April.
